O Ignis Spiritus was commissioned by Tony Sanderson for the Choir of New College, Oxford. It was first performed at a service to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the matriculation of women students at New College on Sunday 27th October 2019, sung by New College Choir and Frideswide Voices, under the direction of Robert Quinney.
